Due to the low solubility of hydrophilic compounds, the enzymatic polycondensation of hydrophilic monomers is a major problem in industry. Under standard conditions lipase-catalysed polycondensations are accomplished in pure organic solvent coupled with in situ water removal. In this work a biphasic reaction system was applied for the polycondensation of hydrophilic monomers. An integrated product removal (IPR) was used to obtain higher polyester yields. By the variation of reaction parameters it was possible to control the yield, the molecular weight and the polydispersity. |
