The use of solvent resistant nanofiltration membranes (molecular weight cut-offs (MWCO) between 150 to 500 g/mol) to separate organocatalysts from reaction media or impurities were investigated. The Michael addition and Henry reaction catalysed by different quinine derivatives were used as model systems. Herein the organic solvent nanofiltration (OSN) showed a good potential for organocatalyst separation. While the catalyst for Henry reaction was retained with up to 97% in the retentate, the corresponding product, with a retention of 59 %, was flushed out and isolated from the permeate stream. |
