The subject of this thesis was the investigation of bound states of solitons in dispersion-managed optical fibers. Initially, the existence range of these bound states, also known as soliton molecules, was investigated numerically. In order to experimentally generate such soliton molecules, a pulse shaping setup was built which allows to modulate the spectral phase and amplitude of short laser pulses. With this setup, a bound state consisting of three dispersion-managed solitons could be verified experimentally for the first time. |
