Within the present thesis applicability of the ISUM is extended to dynamic collapse analyses of steel plate panels. Inertia effects are included by formulating the consistent mass matrix for ISUM plate element. Damping properties are represented by the Rayleigh damping model. The explicit central difference method and the implicit Newmark’s method are implemented to perform the numerical integration of the system of nonlinear differential equations of second order. Dynamic collapse behavior of different rectangular plate panels under longitudinal, transverse and biaxial thrust is investigated.
