    <description descriptionType="Abstract">Residential coal burning in small stoves has not faded out in many countries, yet comprehensive information on physical properties and the chemical composition of its emissions as well as which and how combustion parameters may affect them is scarce. Within this thesis, emissions from solid fuel burning were investigated by a variety of routine and custom analytical instruments, and the knowledge that was gained on the composition of these emissions was used to advance our current understanding how these emissions may adversely affect human health.</description>
