Elodea sp. can overgrow causing severe problems. After harvesting, Elodea biomass remains unused. This thesis aims to explore novel process chains for the anaerobic digestion (AD) to treat, use and add value to Elodea and lignocellulosic wastes focusing on long-term biomass conservation. Investigating two biological processes at laboratory scale: ensiling as a combined conservation and pretreatment method and AD as a bioconversion technique producing biogas. This included evaluating the co-ensiling of Elodea and wheat straw, silage additives and the mono-ensiling of both materials as controls.
