Benzoguanamine based PNP- and a new class of PNPC-pincer complexes were synthesized, characterized and evaluated in (de)hydrogenation reactions. These and state-of-the-art complexes were investigated in the low temperature methanol aqueous phase reforming (APR). Standardized reaction conditions were defined and evaluated, focusing on its practical application. Lastly, the general economic feasibility of methanol APR was discussed.
