Abstract: A main consequence of global change in West Africa is an increasing land use. In central Benin human impact on near nature systems was studied. The detailed ecosystem analysis serves for a better understanding of vegetation composition, vegetation structure and the interrelation of environmental parameters and vegetation of dry forests and different savanna types in West Africa. Analyses with respect to the impact of selective logging on the vegetation system may help to set up plans for silvicultural management for comparable systems in West Africa.

Die Folgen des globalen Wandels machten sich in Westafrika insbesondere in einer starken Intensivierung der Landnutzung bemerkbar. In Zentral-Benin wurde der menschliche Einfluss auf die naturnahen Vegetationssysteme beispielhaft untersucht. Die erstellte Ökosystemanalyse trägt zu einem verbesserten Verständnis der Vegetationsausprägung und deren Zusammenhang mit den Umweltparametern der Trockenwäldern und Savannen in Westafrika bei. Untersuchungen zum selektiven Holzeinschlag sollen die Entwicklung von forstlichen Managementplänen in vergleichbaren Systemen in Westafrika unterstützen. [German]
