Abstract: We studied 80 patients aged 18 to 65 years scheduled for minor gynaecological surgery randomised to 4 groups. Groups 1 and 2 received alfentanil 15µg/kg, 3 and 4 remifentanil 0.2 ug/kg/min. Anaesthesia was induced with propofol 1 mg/kg in all groups and maintained with sevoflurane 1-2% (1+3) or propofol 0.15 mg/kg (2+4). Cognitive function was assessed using "Zahlenverbindungstest”, performed by the same investigator before and 2 and 4 hours after anaesthesia. Results: Groups 2 + 4 awaked faster from anaesthesia Cognitive function assessed by ZVT returned to praeanaesthetic values 2 hours after anaesthesia.
