Abstract: Crop rotations and tillage have changed fundamentally within the last 15 years in Central Europe. Presently, grain crops are grown in continuous crop rotations and minimal tillage. This causes increased yield losses by straw-borne pathogens. A faster straw decomposition is needed to break the chain of infection. Therefore, the aim of the present study was the selection of fungal strains by in vitro screening, pot and field experiments for the development of a biological product to promote straw decomposition.
