Abstract: The adaptation of drop-on-demand ink-jet printing technology for dispensing issues in the field of lab automation enables the generation of droplet volumes in the range of 50-500 pl. Among other things, the droplet disposition and volume depend on the liquid's properties and the parameters of the driving signal. For the use of different liquids, two major problems arise. The parameters of the driving signal have to be adjusted for reaching the desired droplet ejection, and the droplet volume is unknown. This dissertation presents practical automated solutions for dealing with these issues.
