Abstract: In the present dissertation the cellular mechanisms evoked by exposure to fibres and also particles should be more precisely specified based on three asbestos induced lung diseases. The lung biopsie samples were analysed by use of electron microscopy. To examine the reaction of fibres and particles at the cellular level fibroblasts were exposed to asbestos fibres and particles (toner, carbon black, titanium dioxide). The reactions were analysed by the cellular experiments cytotoxicity, generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and induction of apoptosis.
