Abstract: The creation of micro fluidic components in a printed circuit board (PCB) technology is possible. In this doctoral thesis, a system for the Flow-Injection-Analysis (FIA) is transferred to the micro scale and realized using PCBs. It is the first complex monolithic micro fluidic system that was build using PCB technology. The prototypes are able to detect ferric ions with a reproducibility of ± 1.8 %. Numerical simulations of the mixing behaviour and the bubble tolerance in micro channels are used to optimize the fluidic design. This thesis shows the feasibility of micro fluidic systems in PCBs.
