Abstract: I characterised CSM14.1-cells in vitro and in vivo after transplantation into the striatum of Hemiparkinsonian rats. In vitro the expression of markers for neural stem cells, dopaminergic (DAergic) progenitors and neurons during differentiation was investigated. CSM14.1-cells underwent a similar DAergic differentiation as in rodent brains. After transplantation PKH26-labelled CSM14.1-cells were viable and mainly expressed GFAP. DAergic differentiation was not observed and a DAergic reinnervation of the striatum did not occur. Apomorphine-induced rotations did not differ from those of controls.
