In dieser Studie sollte der Einfluss des Wachstumshormons auf die Fettoxidation untersucht
werden. Dazu wurden kleinwüchsige Kinder im Alter von 6 bis 14 Jahren, welche mit
Wachstumshormon behandelt wurden, in einem Zeitraum von drei Monaten beobachtet. Gemessen
wurde eine Zunahme von Körpergröße und Körpergewicht. Eine Veränderung des Fettstoffwechsels
wurde mittels 13CO2-Atemtests mit einem oral applizierten, den Fettstoffwechsel repräsentierenden
13C-markierten Algen-Lipid-Gemisches untersucht. Es zeigte sich eine signifikante
Zunahme des Fettstoffwechels unter Wachstumshormontherapie.

In this study the influence of the growth hormone on the fat oxidation should be examined.
Children with short stature were observed at the age of 6 to 14 years who were treated
with growth hormone over a period of three months. An increase was measured by body
height and body weight. A change of the fat metabolism was examined by 13CO2-breath
tests with an oral applied 13C-marked alga lipid mixture which represents the fat
metabolism. It showed a significant increase of the fat oxidation under growth hormone
therapy.
