Abstract: Paper sheets and sticky traps are suitable tools for the monitoring of pests and beneficial organisms in wood protection. Synanthropic checkered beetles are important predators of the anobiid beetles. The checkered beetle larvae accepted alternate prey, mass development of the clerid beetle could not be performed. Larvae of Korynetes caeruleus did not show higher tolerance toward fumigation with sulfuryl fluoride than larvae of Anobium punctatum. The drilling-resistance-method and the ultrasonic-echomeasurement are with some restrictions suitable for the diagnosis of insect damage within infested wood.
