Abstract: Being part of the innate immune system, natural killer cells are able to kill tumor or virus infected cells. This study presents differentially expressed genes in natural killer cells from head and neck squamous cell carcinoma patients in comparison to healthy probands. These newly identified genes may act as a predictor of clinical tumor state and present candidates for further investigation. Knowledge in exact mechanisms of regulation of natural killer cell activity is a key to develope new strategies in anti-tumorous immunotherapy.
