Abstract: Suicides in Rostock from 1980 until 1989 were examined in order to detect a possible influence of weather conditions on suicidal behaviour. Therefore multivariate logistic regression was used to examine temperature, sunshine duration, atmospheric pressure, air humidity and precipitation in their effect on suicides in their entirety, as well as after division in gender, age groups and method of suicide. Among other results we got some indication of the impact of sudden changes in the weather and extreme weather on suicide rates.
