Abstract: AIMS: It was the aim to analyse the clinical profile of chronic pancreatitis (CP) in Rostock. METHODS: From 2004 to 2007 information from 118 patients were collected using a standardized questionnaire. RESULTS: CP could be divided in alcohol induced (AICP, 84 patients) und idiopathic (ICP) chronic pancreatitis (29 patients). Patients with AICP had significant more vascular occlusions, were more often and earlier operated than patients with ICP. CONCLUSION: More complications occur in AICP than in ICP, especially more vascular occlusions are seen.
