Abstract: Main achievement of this thesis are clustering concepts, which allow a temporary switch-off of a fraction of nodes and save their energy for a later role as active participant of the network. By applying the position-based MASCLE algorithms, a lifetime increase of 105% compared to similar preceding algorithms is possible. An additional contribution of the thesis is the development of a hybrid localization algorithm. The algorithm achieves an average localization precision increase of at least 15% compared to preceding algorithms.
