Abstract: On the basis of empirical studies, dealing with pedagogical and didactical questions regarding pupil’s work in laboratories outside school, a concept was deduced to invent a pupil’s laboratory at the Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research. A first subject area dealing with carbon dioxide was conceived. For this subject area materials for classes and five lab days were conceptualized. Apart from describing the contents pupils are dealing with during their days in the lab and the frequentation of the offered lab days, results of questioning to evaluate the conception of the lab are given.
