Abstract: These interactions were studied at two separated stations differently exposed. At the protected station the abundance and sex ratio of nematodes correlated highly significant positive with the microphytobenthic gross primary production. The species composition of the nematode community was strongly coupled to the level of microphytobenthic production. By contrast, the biomass of phytoplankton had a typical seasonal pattern with spring and autumn blooms at the exposed site. Probably the nematodes benefited from a sedimentation of the bloom.
