Abstract: Asymmetric hydrogenation as well as hydroformylation of 1,1-disubstituted olefins were investigated. Thus, an O-silylprotected dehydro lactate, a N,O-ketene acetal and a range of dehydro beta2-homoalanine derivatives were hydrogenated enantioselectively yielding chiral products with high stereoselectivities. Furthermore, the rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric hydroformylation of an alpha-phosphorylated styrene derivative was examined and the scope could be expanded using new phosphite-phosphoramidite ligands. In addition, HP-NMR experiments gave some indication of the active catalyst-complex.
