Diese Arbeit untersucht die Anwendbarkeit phylogenetischer Methoden innerhalb der
Familie der Characeae (Streptophyta) und der Gattung Fucus (Phaeophyceae). Für beide
Gruppen, die für die EU-Wasserahmenrichtlinie als Bioindikatoren verwendet werden,
wurden aktuell Probleme bei der Artabgrenzung beobachtet, welche durch vergleichende
morphologische und phylogenetische Analysen geklärt werden sollten. Für die untersuchten
Gruppen konnten dabei sehr unterschiedliche Ergebnisse beobachtet werden.

This thesis examines the applicability of phylogenetic methods within the macroalgae
Characeae (Streptophyta) and Fucus (Phaeophyceae). Both groups are used as bioindicators
for the European Water Framework Directive. Currently occurring problems in species
delimination should be solved based on comparative phenetic and phylogenetic analyses.
Levels of discrimination vary greatly among studied groups.
