This thesis summarizes the development of new transformations for the transition metal-catalyzed
introduction of carbon monoxide and alternative C1-building blocks through the direct
functionalization of C−H and C−O bonds. The developed methodologies provide novel
opportunities for the implementation of functional groups and thus expand the molecular
space of organic building block synthesis.
