Abstract: Silica has an effect on biological systems and supports the tissue composition. Therefore silica structures are interesting for medical applications. As such an application two dressings containing weakly crosslinked silica aggregates on the nanometer scale were developed and structural as well as biological analyzed. It was found that the silica aggregates affect the biochemistry of wound healing and lead to greater wound contraction.
