Abstract: This study aimed to achieve general postulations about the so far neglected exogenous climatic forces/environmental factors and their potential role in shaping dynamics of the key demersal species in the southern Caspian Sea. The quantitative analyses showed that the examined climatic/environmental forces are likely to gradually influence the dynamics of species. The shiftogram analyses revealed that the synchronous climate-/environment-driven shifts might have played a substantial role in shaping regional ecological dynamics, not only at species but also at community and ecosystem levels.
