Abstract: The aim of this thesis is the experimental deduction of the requirements for the injection system as well as the evaluation of different engine concepts with regard to the emission performance and consumption costs. For that purpose, a modern research engine was put into service, which allows the operation with different types of injectors. The measurement data of the engine is partly based on design of experiments (DoE) and is supported by relevant measured injection rates. A specially developed evaluation methodology allows a comprehensive interpretation of the results.
