Abstract: Synthetic bone substitutes in the form of granules are often difficult to handle and are used less frequently despite their many advantages. In order to improve manageability, polymer-based additives were developed as modellable carrier materials. The polymers have different mechanical and structural properties, which were investigated using rheology, DSC, SAXS and SEM. Biocompatibility has been tested in vitro and in vivo. An improved defect healing can be achieved by the carrier material.
