Abstract: Affective states can be described by a two dimensional model, measuring the state of arousal on the one hand and the valence on the other hand. Valence is the more relevant dimension when it comes to animal welfare. The focus of the thesis is the cognitive bias test, an approach developed to measure the valence of affective states based on optimistic or pessimisticevaluations of ambivalent stimuli.The goal of this thesis was to provide and validate a test design which is suitable for the usage in pigs comprising the multifaceted characteristics of affective states.

Affektive Zustände können anhand von zwei Dimensionen beschrieben werden, dem Erregungszustand auf der einen Seite und der Valenz auf der anderen. Der Fokus der Arbeit liegt auf dem Cognitive Bias Test, einem Ansatz aus der Humanpsychologie, um die Valenz von affektiven Zuständen, basierend auf optimistischen oder pessimistischen Bewertungstendenzen ambivalenter Stimuli, abzubilden. Ziel dieser Dissertation war es, einen ‚Cognitive Bias‘ Test sowohl zu entwickeln als auch zu validieren, welcher es ermöglicht, den affektiven Zustand von Schweinen zu testen. [German]
