Abstract: Gas phase hydroxylation of benzene to phenol in one step is an attractive option. The zeolite catalysts were used for the direct synthesis of phenol and the reaction conditions have been optimized for improving the yield of phenol. To develop novel catalyst compositions metal-doped zeolite catalysts were applied for initial catalyst screening tests. All metals (1 wt% each) belonging to 3d series (i.e. starting from Sc to Zn) and Pd, Ru were impregnated separately onto the ZSM-5 support and tested. Twelve different monometallic catalysts were investigated.
