Abstract: In this thesis, we attempt to build a numerical model that predicts the traction forces and the actin distribution in osteoblasts when they interact with substrates of different characteristics, where the effects of external electric field are addressed. Our model is based on a bio-chemo-mechanical model that has been widely used in cell mechanics, which possesses many advantages and has been widely applied to simulate two and three dimensional cells in interaction with various substrates.
