Abstract: In the care of "poorly regulated" diabetes mellitus type 2, patients and general practitioners often reach their limits. Analysing data of the cRCT DEBATE, it was investigated whether a complex educational intervention on GP-level increases the patient's perceived patient-centeredness and participation in decision-making. No significant improvement in patient's perceived patient-centeredness and participation in decision-making was shown. The methodological findings contributed significantly to the improvement of study designs in health care research.
