Abstract: In this dissertation the potential of mesoporous SiO2 based materials for the synthesis of supported metal and metal oxide catalysts for the selective oxidation of methane to ethane/ethene or formaldehyde and for the total oxidation to carbon dioxide for exhaust gas treatment was investigated.
