Abstract: This dissertation deals with the development and optimization of synthetic strategies for aza-ullazine, aza-pyrene, benzo[k]acridine and benzo[i]acridine derivatives. Therefore, halogenated pyridine derivatives were functionalized by palladium-catalysed cross-coupling reactions and subsequently cyclized intramolecularly. Furthermore, UV/Vis absorption and emission measurements of selected derivatives were performed to determine quantum yields and absorption coefficients, and the electrochemical behaviour was investigated using cyclic voltammetry.
