Während einer Tumortherapie mit Protonenstrahlen kommt es zur Exposition gesunden
Gewebes außerhalb des Zielgebietes mit sekundären Neutronen (Streustrahlung). Diese
Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit dem Risiko der Entstehung neuer Tumoren als Spätfolge
dieser Neutronenexposition. Zur Untersuchung der radiobiologischen Effekte der Streustrahlung
wurden gesunde humane Mammaepithelzellen mit Neutronen verschiedener Energiespektren
bestrahlt. Diese Ergebnisse sind für weitere Untersuchungen strahleninduzierter Karzinogenese
und für eine bessere Risikobewertung von hoher Relevanz.

During tumor therapy with proton beams, healthy tissue outside of the target region
is exposed to secondary neutrons (scattered radiation). This work deals with the risk
of the development of of secondary malignant neoplasms as a long-term consequence
of neutron exposure. Normal human breast cells were irradiated with neutrons of different
energy spectra to investigate the radiobiological effects of these scattered radiation.
The results are highly relevant for further investigations of radiation-induced carcinogenesis
and for a better risk assessment.
