Abstract: The aim of this work was to evaluate if short stem concepts represent an alternative to conventional standard stems with regard to implant stability, functional- radiological results and periprosthetic bone remodeling. Short stems show migration patterns that can be described as early postoperative micro-movement followed by continuous stability. Short stems can provide clinical results comparable to standard stems. Femoral neck-preserving constructions show poorer results in terms of implant survival.
