Abstract: Fusion welding is a widely used and economical method for joining aluminium alloys. In this process, the applied welding heat evokes significant location-dependent softening in the heat-affected zone (HAZ) of precipitation-hardened aluminium alloys. The main reason for this is the impairment of the nanoscale, finely distributed precipitation state of this material. In this work, the microstructure evolution and resulting property evolution in the HAZ will be analysed by in-situ and ex-situ methods using a widespread AlMgSi alloy. ...
