Abstract: The uterocervical angle (UCA) and the biomarkers thrombospondin-1, stratifin and desmoplakin in the cervicovaginal fluid were examined as predictors of preterm birth in a risk group of pregnant women with signs of threatening preterm birth between 20 0/7 and 31 6/7 weeks. The UCA, stratifin and desmoplakin were not predictive for the prediction of preterm birth. Thrombospondin-1 proved to be a good predictor, which allows long-term risk assessment for a spontaneous preterm birth over 8 weeks.
