Abstract: The aim of this work was to find an explanation for the low incidence of fractures in the cervical spine in osteoporosis. For this purpose, the cancellous bone of 240 vertebrae of whole spines from ten body donors with osteoporosis was examined and compared with respect to BVF, Tb.Th, Tb.Sp, Tb.N, and DA. Statistically significant differences were found between the cervical spine and those of the thoracic and lumbar spine. BVF, Tb.Th, and Tb.N were significantly higher in the cervical spine. Meanwhile, the Tb.Sp. and DA showed significantly lower in the cervical spine.
