Abstract: Large engines are used as Gensets in stationary power plants worldwide. The used liquid fuels, in example heavy fuel oils, lead to the emission of sulphur dioxide and particles. The present work investigates a new process to abate sulphur dioxide with dry chemisorption on Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate in the temperature range of 250 °C to 400 °C. At first a small scale test facility was used to observe different filter elements and the desulphurisation process. Afterwards a 3D-CFD simulation of the test facility was implemented with 1D particle model.
