Abstract: The dissertation shows that humor can be used to benefit the learning process and learning results in nearly every subject. Spontaneous laughter, however, is perceived as an acoustic stimulus and thus as a classroom disruption by teachers. In future, teachers should permit joyful behaviours based on gelotological knowledge and acquired skills in emotion recognition. Additionally, subject-specific, joyful learning can also be initiated in physical education (e.g. by activation forms that provoke incongruent situations) in order to improve both immediate and sustainable learning.
