Synthesis and Reactivity of Pacman Phosphanes

Abstract: Pacman ligands can coordinate two metal centres and are inter alia used to achieve cooperative reaction behaviour. In this thesis, we transferred the concept to phosphorus chemistry. The substituents remaining on the phosphorus atoms in the resulting Pacman phosphanes strongly influence their properties, leading to the formation of different isomers or in the case of halogenated Pacman phosphanes to highly dynamic systems. During formation of dications by halide abstraction, redox isomerism is observed. Moreover, some of the Pacman phosphanes act as multidentate ligands.
