Abstract: German agriculture will have to continue working on reducing N emissions (BMUV 2021, DüVO 2020 and StoffBilV 2017). In chicken fattening, four different practical tests showed that N reduction in feed (crude protein reduction) significantly reduces N excretion. An optimized amino acid pattern ensures consistent growth performance and other positive side effects (drier litter, healthier foot pads). This meant that the results of station tests with small numbers of animals could be transferred to a practical operation.
