abstract: |
This study investigates the role of three commensal bacteria - Faecalibacterium prausnitzii,
Bacteroides faecis, and Roseburia intestinalis - in maintaining intestinal barrier
integrity and their potential to mitigate chronic inflammation, with a focus on Ulcerative
Colitis (UC). Using in vitro and in vivo models, the study demonstrates that these
bacteria alleviate inflammatory-induced impairment of the intestinal barrier, enhance
barrier function, and mitigate pro-inflammatory processes.
