abstract: |
The preferential oxidation (PROX) of CO is an effective and practical strategy to
reduce trace amounts of CO to a very low level (< 5 ppm) from the H2-rich stream used
as fuel for proton exchange membrane fuel cells. Cu catalysts have been proven to
be cheap alternatives to the costly noble metal-based catalysts due to their high
activity, selectivity, and stability. However, most of the previous investigations
used a higher Cu loading, normally more than 5 wt% preventing any reliable conclusions
about the nature of the active sites (Cu single sites, dimmers, clusters and/or nanoparticles).
