This study evaluates chlorinated hydrocarbons (PCBs, DDT, HCB) in Baltic Sea sediments,
examining concentration levels, spatial-temporal distribution, and ecological and
human health impacts. Analysis of PCB153 shows variation due to industrial activities,
particularly in central and southern areas. Long-term monitoring indicates diverse
PCB trends and a decline in levels following environmental regulations. Sediments
serve as major pollutant sinks, with core samples revealing vertical dispersion patterns.
Ecological and health risk assessments indicate minimal risks.

analysiert Konzentrationen, Verteilung und ökologische sowie gesundheitliche Auswirkungen.
PCB153 zeigt Variationen durch industrielle Aktivitäten. Langzeitdaten deuten auf
rückläufige PCB-Trends hin. Sedimente sind wichtige Schadstoffsenken, Kernproben zeigen
vertikale Streuungsmuster. Risikobewertungen ergeben minimale ökologische und gesundheitliche
