abstract: |
Calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) balance in pigs is regulated by key factors like vitamin
D and fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23). A study looked at gene expression related
to vitamin D metabolism and FGF23 signaling in pigs on different P diets. Different
tissues contribute to vitamin D synthesis, and dietary P levels affect gene expression.
Another study found that UVB exposure can improve vitamin D status in pigs. A literature
review compared the effects of vitamin D3 and 25(OH)D3 on pig health, showing benefits
of 25(OH)D3 for growth, immunity, and bone development in piglets.
