Ulrich von Winterstetten zählt mit seinen Leichs und Liedern zu den bedeutenden Dichtern
des 13. Jahrhunderts. Die Arbeit beinhaltet eine handschriftennahe Edition der mittelhochdeutschen
Texte, eine Gesamtübersetzung sowie eine ausführliche Kommentierung und Interpretation,
in der das ausgefeilte Wechselspiel zwischen formalen und inhaltlichen Aspekten der
Lyrik abgebildet wird. Die Arbeit zeigt, dass die ostentativen Bezüge des Dichters
auf die literarische Tradition als bewusst eingesetztes Mittel der Bedeutungsgenese
fungieren und folglich Teil des poetischen Kalküls der Texte sind.

Ulrich von Winterstetten's poetry makes him one of the most important poets of the
13th century. The work includes a manuscript edition of the Middle High German texts,
a complete translation as well as a detailed commentary and interpretation, in which
the sophisticated interplay between formal and thematic aspects of the poetry is illustrated.
The work shows that the poet's ostentatious references to literary tradition function
as a deliberate means of generating meaning and are therefore part of the poetic calculation
of the texts.
