Abstract: This thesis contributes to more stable and active catalyst systems for photocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction. It presents the synthesis of novel bimetallic iron complexes for the target reaction. The second part explores heterogenized copper-based photosensitizers with titanium dioxide for CO2 reduction, showing enhanced activity and efficiency. The third part focuses on developing aqueous-phase photocatalytic CO2 reduction using natural and mutagenized enzymes with a Ru-based photosensitizer. A new approach for identification of suitable enzymes based on structural analysis was developed.
